Warriors follow their hearts.
Worriers are driven by their heads.

The powers that flow from a warrior’s heart are far superior to the weapons of deception that drive worriers. Worriers live with anger, bitterness, confusion, frustration, and fear; whereas true warriors live with love, wisdom, peace, faith, and freedom. Living from your heart is infinitely more powerful than living from your head.

Every day you get to choose where you live from—your heart or your head. Would you prefer to be led by peace or driven by fear? Your heart is peaceful. Warriors follow their hearts because they love peace. It may sound strange to talk about peace when talking about a warrior. In truth, the reason warriors are willing to fight is because they love peace so much. Warriors understand that throughout their lives, they will enjoy seasons of peace and seasons of war. Yes, we enjoy seasons of peace and we enjoy seasons of war because we know that in the end we always win.

Warriors trust the Wisdom within their hearts, which empowers them to make wise decisions that create peace and freedom. Worriers are masters at making bad decisions. Because they believe the lies that have infiltrated their heads instead of the truth of their hearts, they make foolish decisions that create more of the very things they don’t want. This is why worriers keep going around the same old mountains and never gain any true success and fulfillment.

Peace and freedom are benefits of the Wisdom that flows through your heart. A warrior’s heart is like a river of life. A worrier’s head is like a dam that prevents the flow of Wisdom from reaching into his life and relationships.

Warriors are continually conditioning and disciplining their heads to follow the flow from their hearts. Your head can be used as a tool or a weapon for good or evil. When your head is submitted to the Wisdom in your heart it will help you build and fight for the right things. When your head is under the influence of lies it will fight against the dreams, plans, and purposes that Wisdom has for you and your family.

If you are going to be a warrior you absolutely must make your head submit to the Wisdom in your heart. When you allow the mind behind the world’s system to fill your head with lies, you become a worrier and start to fight against the Wisdom in your heart. When you renew your mind with Wisdom you will find that your thoughts, words, and actions are becoming powerful, peaceful, and productive.

I want to introduce you to three simple illustrations I learned from the Wisdom in my heart many years ago when I taught young people. The first one is the word heart. If you drop the first and last letters of the word heart you will see the word ear. H(ear)t. This is an outward symbol of an inward reality. In your heart, the deepest part of you, your spirit, you have ears to hear the voice of Wisdom. Learn to listen to that small voice and you will make wise decisions that create victory in your life.
The second illustration is the word mind. Again, drop the first and last letters and what do you see? The word in. M(in)d. This is a reminder to be careful of what you hold in your mind because as a man or woman thinks, so are they. Your mentality determines your reality. You become what you think about. Your dominant thoughts determine your destination in life. Train your brain to think about the plans and purposes of Wisdom and you will start making progress toward them.

The third illustration is the word mouth. Again, drop the first and last letters and what do you see? The word out. M(out)h. This reminds us to be very careful about what we allow to come out of our mouths because the power of life and death is in the tongue. Scripture says you can declare a thing and it will come to pass. Christ said, “You will have whatever you say.” Your thoughts and words are extremely powerful and you must get them into alignment with the Wisdom in your heart. H(ear)t, M(in)d, M(out)h.
Warriors constantly work at getting and keeping their thoughts and words in alignment with the Wisdom in their hearts. When your thoughts and words are in alignment with Wisdom, your actions and associations also get into alignment and you become a powerful warrior. Learn to follow your heart.

A great line from the movie Braveheart is near the beginning of the film when the young William Wallace has a dream wherein his father, who recently died in a battle, looks at him and says, “Your heart is free, have the courage to follow her.”

Understand this: you are free to live your life in the way that you choose. If you choose to follow your heart, then peace and freedom will flow through your life. If you let your head dominate your life and usurp the authority from your heart, it will drive you into unnecessary pain and problems. If your head is running your life, then it is ruining your life. If you are only living from your head, then you are dead. If you are following your heart, you will still have some battles and wars to fight, but you will have Wisdom to know what to do. It is unrealistic to think that peace and freedom will flow through your life without enduring some battles and wars, which is why I wrote this book. The distinctions I am making here have helped me face, fight, and overcome some of the fears in my mind. I believe they will do the same for you.

Realize the greatest battles and wars are not fought between armies on earthly battlefields, they are fought between the hearts and minds of individuals. The physical outer wars between people and even nations are simply reflections of one person or group that seeks to live their lives in alignment with the peace and freedom that is in their hearts versus a person or group who is being dominated by the fear in their heads.

There is a mind behind the world’s system that is at war with the Wisdom in your heart.
Worriers fight against the powers of their own hearts because they have been deceived by the mind behind the system. The mind behind the system fights the Wisdom within you with lies.
Lies create fear. Allow lies to constantly infiltrate your mind and you will find you are constantly experiencing inner turmoil and confusion. Confusion is the result of your head arguing and fighting with your heart.

I once heard the voice of Wisdom within me say this: The key to being free is the revelation that you already are.
You are free to choose your thoughts, you are free to choose your words, and you are free to choose your actions. Those three things create your life. Get your thoughts, words, and actions in alignment with your heart and you will become a warrior instead of a worrier.
Consistent choices create circumstance. That is to say, the things that you do consistently create your results. Consistently follow your heart and you will create a great life. Be driven by your head and you will suffer.

Warriors follow their hearts.

Worriers are driven by their heads.

Dream fulfillers are finishers.
Dream killers are starters.

What is your dream? Do you take time to think about your dream every day? Few people do. One of the biggest reasons for this is distractions. Sadly, many people have either not started to pursue their dreams or are sidetracked by distractions when in pursuit of their dreams.

Distractions are inevitable; they are a part of pursuing your dreams. Everyone has distractions in their lives; learning to deal with them and staying focused is a secret to seeing your dream fulfilled.
Dream fulfillers are finishers because they have learned how to deal with distractions. Dream killers start toward their dreams but they allow distractions to stop them from taking consistent action. Consistency is a key to victory. If you only pursue your dream occasionally you will eventually quit pursuing it.

How can you deal with distractions? What I am about to tell you may sound too simple but if you haven’t discovered this yet it will transform your life and help you get back on track with your dream. One of the best ways to deal with distractions is learning to say no. A distraction is something that is not in alignment with your dream. By saying no you can stay focused on your dream. Saying no to distractions is an absolute must if you are going to see your dream fulfilled. Learning to say no will strengthen your focus and increase your clarity. Always remember: clarity is power. It is powerful to finish what you start. If you allow distractions to steal your focus, then you will kill your dream.

Focus is the opposite of distraction. Staying focused simply means to consistently say yes to the things that are in alignment with your dream and no to the things that are not. Dream fulfillers are finishers because they stay focused.

What do you do when you have a distraction that you can’t say no to or when there is something you can’t ignore? The answer is to handle it as quickly as possible. Do not let distractions build up on you—because if you do, you will kill your dream.

Procrastination is a terrible enemy of dream fulfillers but it is a friend of dream killers. Allowing distractions to stack up can lead to overwhelm which leads to shutdown. Say no when you should and immediately take care of the things that must be done. These two simple rules will help you become a dream fulfiller.

You must learn to handle distractions because they lead to disappointment. Hear me clearly: allowing distractions to build up will lead to disappointment. When you find yourself disappointed, immediately reappoint yourself to your dream before you get discouraged.

It’s okay to be disappointed, but it’s not okay to be discouraged. If you have allowed yourself to become discouraged, then it is time to encourage yourself. It is your responsibility to encourage yourself. It is nice when others encourage you but if you sit around waiting for someone else to encourage you, you will spend a lot of time stuck in a rut. If you spend too much time stuck in a rut, you will end up in depression.

Did you notice all of these words start with the letter D? Distractions lead to disappointments, disappointments lead to discouragement, and discouragement leads to depression. Most people are totally unaware that they ended up in depression because they never learned how to handle distractions. Don’t let distractions and your disappointments get you off track. Be a finisher.

• Say no to everything that is not in alignment with your dream.
• Things that you can’t say no to must be handled as quickly as possible.
• Do not let distractions build up or you will become discouraged.
• If you do become discouraged, find a way to encourage yourself.
• If you have allowed yourself to be discouraged for so long that you are now battling with depression, then get focused on your dream again and restart taking action.

Dream fulfillers have to restart themselves toward their dream hundreds and even thousands of times before they finish what they started. Every distraction, every disappointment, every discouragement, every battle with depression is just a temporary stop for dream fulfillers. They get started again as soon as possible. Dream killers start and stop and don’t get restarted. Dream fulfillers start, stop, and start again many, many times. Restarting is the difference between a goal setter and a goal achiever. A lot of people have set goals and never achieve them simply because of one of those negative D-words.

I am now going to share a positive D-word with you that makes all the difference: diligence. Diligence is the ability to start, stop, and start again. Diligence is the ability to stay focused and take consistent action. Diligence is the commitment to your dream that will cause you to work hard and carry you through to completion. Diligence is one of the primary characteristics of all dream fulfillers. It is a must-have to being a finisher. Diligence is a decision to work hard and do whatever it takes to achieve your dream. It is a commitment to make your dream come true in spite of the inevitable distractions and disappointments. Diligence empowers dream fulfillers to persevere. Diligence and perseverance empower you to be a finisher.

Perseverance is the power to endure tough times. Perseverance is fueled by a belief that your dream is possible and it is worth all the stuff you must go through to get it. Without perseverance, without the belief that your dream is possible and it’s worth everything you are going through, you will become a dream killer. You must dream it and believe it to achieve it.
Dream fulfillers are believers. Dream killers are doubters. Believing enables you to finish. Doubting causes you to stop after you started and not get restarted. Believe in your dream and you will develop diligence and perseverance and will overcome all the distractions, disappointments, discouragements, and depressions. Don’t be a starter who becomes quitter. Be a finisher.

Dream fulfillers are finishers.
Dream killers are starters.

Relationship is joyful.
Religion is painful.

The pain is increasing. People all over the planet are crying out: “There’s got to be more than this!” The more that people are looking for is found in relationship with God. Unfortunately, the overwhelming majority of people are looking for more in religion. Religion cannot satisfy the desire for more. Religion only adds to the pain. The cure for the pain of religion is relationship with God.
Having a religion about God is the cause of many problems. Having a relationship with God is the solution to problems. The proof that people have a religion and not a relationship with God is the very cry of their hearts.

As long as you have a religion about God instead of a relationship with God, your cry will always be: “There’s got to be more than this!”

In contrast, the cry of a person who is in relationship with God is: “Thank You! I love You!” It is a cry of praise and worship. It is a shout of JOY!

In Scriptures it says: “In His presence is fullness of Joy . . . The joy of the Lord is our strength . . . Joy unspeakable and full of Glory . . . That My joy may be in you and that your Joy may be full . . . The kingdom of God is Righteousness, Peace and Joy . . .”

The Bible is full of examples of Joy being the result of relationship with God. If you are not experiencing joy on a consistent basis then chances are you have a religion and not a relationship with God.

The joy that comes from relationship is similar to the joy I experience when I look at a sunset or watch a wave break on the beach or feel a cool breeze on a hot day. I sense it when I hear my children laughing. I feel it when I laugh. Joy is the secret of an overcoming life. Sure, we all go through trials, but with joy we have power to overcome. Without joy we are weak and defeated.

Joy that comes from relationship with God is deeper and more powerful than temporary happiness. Joy is internal and only depends on God’s presence. Happiness is external and depends on circumstances being positive.

People in relationship with God can go through negative circumstances and still experience the Joy of salvation. For example, when the house is dirty, the kids are whining, and you are exhausted, there is still a deep peace and joy that flows from being in relationship with God. Or, when sales are down, the bills are mounting, and creditors are calling, there is still an inner assurance that God will provide. That inner assurance is the joy and strength I am speaking of. In a relationship with God there is a peace and joy that surpasses understanding. Without a relationship with God there is stress, anger, and frustration.

People in religion only feel good when things are going their way, which is not very often if you haven’t noticed. Very seldom do things go the way you think they should. God’s ways are higher than yours and if you really want God to do exceedingly abundantly above what you can ask or think then you must let go of your religious ideas of who God is and how He works.

Religion claims that it knows God and His ways but if that were true then joy would be the proof. Instead there is this deep, painful crying out for more. Religion demands that things go according to its understanding. Relationship demands that you don’t lean on your understanding but instead trust God with all of your heart.

People in religion are always trying to figure everything out. The problem with this is that it is impossible to figure everything out. And, trying to figure everything out will keep you from experiencing the joy of relationship.

The joy of relationship comes from trust. In fact, there can be no relationship without trust. Of course, God is constantly working on your understanding so that you can know His will, but when things happen that you didn’t foresee, it is time to let go and trust that God is in control.

I am so thankful that I don’t have to figure everything out. Boy, would I be in trouble if I did. I believe that is why so many people are in trouble, because they believe they have to figure everything out for themselves. God reveals to me what I need to know when I need to know it.

The goal of this life is not to know everything but rather to be in relationship with God. And when you are, you will trust that God is guiding your life and teaching you what you need to know when you need to know it. Being in relationship means to come to a place of trusting your Creator to guide you into the purposes for which you were created. Relationship teaches with love and patience.

Aren’t you thankful for God’s patience? Since God is patient with you, how about being patient with yourself and trust that God is working his good pleasure in your life? When you trust, the joy starts to flow. Doubting that God is guiding you leads to depression and fear. Trusting leads to joy and freedom.

Relationship is joyful.
Religion is painful.
